About Us

The North Metropolitan Regional Law Society, or "North Met", is one of the 29 regional law societies recognised by the Law Society of NSW. Our members live, work or study within our region. The membership is a dynamic mix of practice area, practice type, and practice size. No matter your question you are likely to find the answer with a North Met member. The membership is collegiate and very welcoming of new members.  

Membership of our Regional Law Society is open to any lawyer (whether practising or not), barrister or law student. North Met membership is separate to any membership held directly with The Law Society of NSW.

We host monthly CPD dinners, bi-monthly practice forums, and an annual Christmas Gala. We encourage you to have a look at our calendar.

North Met has a thriving Young Lawyer group which is always looking to welcome new members. The young lawyer cohort meets on monthly for social networking - this is an informal opportunity to network, discuss legal issues and life in practice over a bite to eat and some drinks. There is also an annual student engagement event and an annual EOY/Christmas event. The Young Lawyer team is excited to launch a young lawyer CPD program in 2025.
